Chuck Hazlett
Charles “Chuck” Hazlett comes to the UBB Strategic Advisory Board with a wealth of international knowledge from the Food and Beverage Industry. Chuck is presently the Founder & Chief Financial Officer of JEY HOSPITALITY GROUP. JEY is a South Florida group that created its own restaurant/bar brands that presently operates multiple restaurants (ROK: BRGR, Himmarshee Public House, Taco Craft, Mercado Negro, Pizza Craft, The Apothecary 330), with over 500 employees serving gourmet hamburgers, tacos, Italian food, pizza, craft beers and cocktails in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. JEY has several Zagat rated restaurants/bars and has been invited to the South Beach Wine and Food Festival for 10 consecutive years where they have won many “Best Burger” competitions in South Florida.
In addition to his F&B successes, Chuck has also been Instrumental in the creation and founding of several enterprises through the securing of start-up capital, preparing offering memorandums, private placements, and served on the Board of Directors and in all cases followed through the exit strategy. Chuck has successfully exited companies with values of $59M (a Pharmacy Benefits Management company), and $286M (WildCard Systems, a global prepaid card solutions provider).
Chuck also has extensive experience in Financing and Private Equity markets. With over 35 years in the finance and equity markets: Dean Whitter, Merrill Lynch and Prudential. He was in Private Banking for over 8 years as Executive Vice President for both CB Capital and Stanford Group Company. Chuck developed expertise in finding and cultivating clients in Latin America and the Caribbean, Clients were both retail and institutional. The positions also included portfolio and asset management and smaller investment banking transactions.
Dave Q. Wu
Dave Wu is a seasoned technologist and veteran investor, specialized in communications and telecommunications, digital security, clean energy, and mobile internet. Mr. Wu currently is the Managing Director of Jiuyou Capital Group, a China State fund backed investment fund group with aggregation of RMB 20 billion under management, and Chairman and Partner of Asia Perspective, leading practice in all corporate finance and M&A activities between China and the Nordics.
Unicorn Capital Group (UCG), an investment fund controlled by Mr. Wu’s family has been highly committed to investing in selected, technology originative companies in the Nordic. At the same time, through highly active post-investment management practices, its invested technologies have been widely applied and commercialized in China and other markets.
Dave has been actively involved and invested in a series of leading-edge technological companies in North America, Nordic, and China, and has worked at well-known investment fund firm, Capital One as well as at UBS.
Dave holds an MBA from Berkeley.
Jonathan Clement
Jonathan Clement is currently the Chief Technology Officer of Nanostone Water, working with the global applications of Nanostone CM-151 ceramic filtration module. He has over 25 years of experience in globally leading technology applications over five continents. He was Chief Executive Officer of PWNT, a subsidiary of PWN, the innovative water supply company of North Holland.
Jonathan was one of the company’s founders and played a pivotal role in growing the firm into a global business. At PWNT, he led the application of two of the largest ceramic membrane plants in the world. One is responsible for a 180 million liter per day water production plant in Singapore.
Jonathan also was the founder of the Global Leading Edge Technology (LET) Conference and has chaired it for six years. He currently sits on the chair at LET. In 2013, Jonathan received a special award for outstanding leadership from the International Water Association. In 2018, he was listed
as one of the top 25 global water leaders in the world.
Ron Bucchi
Ronald A. Bucchi is a self-employed C.P.A. and C.G.M.A. with a specialized practice that concentrates in CEO consulting, strategic planning, mergers, acquisitions, business sales, and tax.
He has worked with domestic and international companies. He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Executive Education program with completed course studies in general board governance, audit and compensation. He is currently a director of Lightwave Logic (OTCBB: LWLG) serving as its Audit Chairman, an Advisory Board member of Baker Scientific, as well as Treasurer and a director of the Petit Family Foundation, Inc., and a Board member of the Farmington Bank Foundation. He has served on numerous other community boards and is past chairman of the Wheeler Clinic and the Wheeler YMCA. He is a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a former director of First Connecticut Bancorp since its formation in 2011 and a director of Farmington Bank since 2000 until its sale in 2018 as Lead Director, as well as serving on the Governance, Loan Committee and Audit Committee Chairman. He is a financial expert for Audit Committee purposes.
Shane Caniglia
Shane Caniglia provides UBB with a wealth of knowledge in growth companies, marketing, website presence, and data analytics. Shane is presently the President of Plush Creative Agency and SASZONE. Plush provides an intermediary service that strengthens relationships between alcohol licensees, suppliers, wholesalers and distributing companies. Plush has a unique 5 step program that develops creative solutions designed to increase sales, provide transparency, and the power to monitor financial status of transactions.
The SASZONE Company is providing industry standards to ensure a safe and secure retail environment for employees and guests. The Company uses proprietary M2 Menu Technology to change menus daily and run different advertisement features quickly and cost-effectively.
This unique QR code technology also offers new and exciting marketing opportunities. SASZONE’s provides programs with table/bar top advertising sanitizer housing stations (with or without the QR code), coasters and other hot products.
For the prior 12 years, Shane was the President and CEO of the Rich Dad Poor Dad Company located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Rich Dad specializes in all aspects of financial education with an emphasis on changing one’s mindset from employee to entrepreneur. Shane has traveled all over the world with Robert Kiyosaki (Founder, Rich Dad), and been on stage in front of thousands of people teaching the financial philosophy of Rich Dad. Shane’s focus was on all aspects of what it takes to start a company. This includes business plans, financial projections, operating agreements, stock purchase agreement’s and shareholder communications. Having raised over $25m to date, his experience has taught him many valuable lessons.
Shane is Co-founder of Longhorn and SMC, LLC consulting. Both of these companies specialize in nurturing start-ups through the process of idea to execution. Longhorn was formed in 1989 and has worked with hundreds of companies at various levels. SMC, LLC was formed in 2017 when Shane decided to go out on his own. SMC, LLC to date has worked with 19 companies of which 13 launched. He has invested in five of those companies all of which are still up and running. These companies range from Veterinary medical clinics, multifamily real estate, high-end audio, technology, and marketing agencies.
Vincent Swift
Vincent Swift is a seasoned C-level executive with a 30-year track record of founding and building companies in Asia. He has worked in the Asia-Pacific region since 1983, managing various companies across the region since 1986. He is currently chairman of a number of firms in the financial technology space, including Bank System, Ltd, KYC.org, and director of Global Internet Services. Vincent founded Fincubator, LLC as well as Vinarco (Tech Services/HR Solutions) in 1993.
The company has grown to 110 staff and operates in six different Asian markets. He has also served as advertising chairman at multiple firms throughout Asia and Europe.
Vincent will use his wealth of experience in the tech space founding and running companies as well as a strong marketing background (management roles with top companies such as P&G, Unilever, Exxon, Nestle, McDonalds) to help strategize with, and to advise UBB into a prosperous future.
Sandy Shoemaker
Sandy Shoemaker retired from public accounting in June 2021 to focus on working with emerging and growing companies that want to develop a corporate culture focused on employee engagement. She spent over 30 years in public accounting mostly with EKS&H/Plante & Moran as an audit partner working with publicly traded and privately held companies and led EKS&H’s ESOP services group. Sandy has a depth of experience working with both small and medium sized companies as a trusted business advisor. Her focus has been on employee-owned companies and advising on the proper use of various employee ownership structures, espe- cially ESOPs. She has extensive knowledge of financial reporting and financial statement audits within various industries, such as biotech, franchising, distribution, and manufacturing – including the craft brew industries, medical-device, restaurants, and real estate industries.
Today, her passion lies with working with companies that want to grow and seek the proper resources to help ensure a successful execution of their strategic plan.
